KOHALA COAST, HAWAII (June 7, 2020) – マウナ ラニ、オーベルジュ リゾート コレクション announced today their inclusion to Architectural Digest’s first annual Great Design Awards, honoring new or newly reimagined hotel properties. The list highlights pioneering, forward-thinking spaces—and that even when travel is disrupted, great design endures. The new annual feature presents truly best-in-class properties to the magazine’s audience of tastemakers, influencers and design enthusiasts.

“We are honored to receive a Great Design Award from Architectural Digest ” said Vice President and General Manager Sanjiv Hulugalle. “People have always loved the elegance of this resort – the simple, beautiful natural spaces, and incredible sense of place, all deeply rooted with history. And all of that remains after our renimagination.”Designed by Meyer Davis, the interiors are now brighter and more refined, with ample hardwood, natural fabrics and textures. A contemporary-yet-organic sensibility defines the resort’s collection of sophisticated interiors. Furnished lanai balconies affording mountain and ocean views—each presents an understated, naturalistic décor satisfying guests’ desire for a soulful Hawaiian escape. The ultimate island getaway is reserved for those who reside within one of Mauna Lani’s Bungalows. Each ultra-luxury hideaway is named for the five mountains encircling the resort: Mauna Kea, Mauna Loa, Hualālai, Haleakalā and Kohala.

Nestled on sacred shores lined with tropical gardens, secluded warm-water beaches and natural lava plains, Mauna Lani offers an unrivaled, authentic experience, raising the bar for luxury in Hawai’i. Oceanfront guest rooms and suites set the stage for transformative experiences while activity at the resort radiates out from the Hālau, the heart of Mauna Lani. Guests pass through this, open-air cultural center on their way to endless outdoor experiences. Luxurious pools with exclusive cabanas and expansive lawns are perfect for picnics and stargazing. Private dining options include highlights from Hawai’i’s fresh bounty from the laid-back, yet refined CanoeHouse with Executive Chef Matt Raso at the helm.
